USRider reminds drivers to take vehicle to dealer for annual checkup
Lexington, KY (May 28, 2010) – With the economy continuing to stumble along, everyone is trying to save money. This includes horse owners who try to save money at every opportunity to maximize their equine experience.
To save money, horse owners might opt to have their vehicles serviced at non-dealer locations. As long as the technician providing the service is competent, it does not matter where the service is performed, according to Mark Cole, managing member for USRider, national provider of roadside emergency assistance for equestrians.
However, Cole recommends, newer cars should be serviced at least once a year at the dealership for the brand of vehicle. “Newer vehicles have a variety of complicated computer systems that are no different from personal computers – they require periodic software updates,” explained Cole.
Additionally, the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) dealer will be aware of any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that apply to specific vehicles as well. TSBs are determined by the actual on-road performance of a specific model of vehicle and often include a simple software update, replacement part, or some other modification. These TSBs could solve a number of items that affect a vehicle’s safety and performance.
Through its Equestrian Motor Plan, USRider provides emergency road service to its Members in the lower 48 states as well as Alaska and Canada. Designed for those who travel with horses, USRider provides emergency roadside assistance and towing services, along with other travel-related benefits geared especially toward horse owners, such as towing up to 100 miles plus roadside repairs for tow vehicles and trailers with horses, emergency stabling and veterinary referrals.
